Product Description
The Shadow is spreading across Middle-earth, and the Fellowship cannot face it alone.
The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship is a cooperative strategy game for 1–5 players designed by Matt Leacock. Each player controls two characters, combining their unique abilities as the group works together to protect Frodo, battle the forces of Shadow and keep ahead of the searching Eye of Sauron and the pursuing Nazgûl.
Your journey stretches across a map of Middle-earth, where heroes travel between locations, gather allies, prepare for danger, muster friendly troops, battle enemy forces and reclaim key strongholds. Every turn asks the group to decide where its limited actions will matter most before the Shadow responds.
Frodo’s journey remains at the heart of the game. Moving him towards Mount Doom can trigger dangerous searches as the Nazgûl hunt for the Ring-bearer, while the Eye of Sauron shifts its attention across the map. Hope must be carefully protected too , if it falls too far, the Free Peoples lose their chance to prevail.
Victory requires more than surviving the armies of Sauron. The group must complete a changing selection of objectives while ultimately helping Frodo reach Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring. With 24 Objective Cards, different characters, changing events and several difficulty settings, the challenges facing the Fellowship can vary from one game to the next.
The Shadow has its own momentum. Shadow Cards can advance enemy forces along battle lines, reinforce threatened regions and unleash special orders, while battles are resolved with dice and character abilities. Knowing when to confront the enemy and when to protect more vulnerable parts of Middle-earth becomes an important part of the group’s strategy.
Thirteen playable characters bring different strengths to the journey, including familiar members of the Fellowship and allies who rise to help them. Their abilities create different combinations each time you play, encouraging players to coordinate their actions and make the most of every hero under their control.
The game can be adjusted from Introductory through Standard, Heroic, Epic and Legendary difficulty, changing the number of objectives and Skies Darken cards in play as you look for a greater challenge.
Prefer to journey through Middle-earth alone? A dedicated solo mode is included, giving a single player control of Frodo & Sam alongside other heroes as they coordinate the fight against the Shadow.
With cooperative planning, variable objectives, changing heroes and escalating pressure from Sauron’s forces, Fate of the Fellowship creates a large-scale Middle-earth adventure where every decision contributes to the final journey to Mount Doom.
