This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you visit https://afrishonworld.co.za/ and when you make purchases from our store. We collect personal information to:

  • Provide marketing and promotional messages only when you’ve consented.

POPIA requires that personal information must be processed lawfully and for a specific purpose; we only collect information that is necessary for the above purposes.

Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect:

  • Payment & order: Billing address, Shipping address, payment token (processed by our payment provider - we do not store full card details).

  • Account & service: username, password (securely stored), order history.

  • Device & usage: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, cookies and analytics data.

  • Optional: product reviews, photos you share, marketing preferences.

3. How we collect personal information

We collect data when you: create an account, place an order, sign up for our newsletter, contact customer support, use our website (cookies/analytics), or otherwise interact with Afrishon World.

4. Third parties & disclosures

To run our store we share personal information with service providers who act as processors on our behalf, for example:

  • Payment processors (to accept payments).

  • Shipping/courier partners (to deliver orders).

  • Shopify (hosting and ecommerce platform).

  • Email/marketing platforms (where you’ve opted in).

  • Analytics providers and fraud-prevention services.

5. Legal basis and POPIA compliance (South Africa)

Under POPIA, personal information must be processed in accordance with the conditions for lawful processing and with respect for data subject rights. We rely on legal bases such as: contract performance (processing your order), consent (for marketing communications), and legitimate interests where appropriate (fraud prevention, service improvement). POPIA sets out eight conditions for lawful processing and creates enforceable rights for data subjects.

  • Request correction or deletion of personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete or misleading.

  • Object to the processing of your personal information or withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).

  • Request the destruction or deletion of records we no longer have a lawful basis to retain.

POPIA provides these rights and requires responsible parties to respond in a reasonable time and provide forms/assistance for requests. Where required, requests may be submitted in a prescribed form and are generally to be processed free of charge.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above, to comply with legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Where POPIA or other laws prescribe retention periods, we will follow those requirements.

8. Security measures

We implement reasonable organizational and technical security measures to protect your personal information (e.g., HTTPS, access controls, secure hosting via Shopify). While we strive to protect your data, no internet transmission is 100% secure — if you suspect a breach, please notify us immediately.

9. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to run our site, analyze performance, and personalize your experience. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings and any cookie consent banner we display. If you opt out of marketing cookies, that may affect personalized marketing but will not prevent essential site functionality.
