Splendor Duel is required to play. This is not a standalone game.

The rivalry between master jewellers is about to become considerably less respectable.

Splendor Duel: The Counterfeiters expands the tense two-player strategy of Splendor Duel with shimmering Glassware tokens, a completely new type of Counterfeiter card and eight fresh Royal cards that open clever new ways to manipulate the game.

Four purple Glassware tokens are added directly to the token board, becoming a new resource that can be collected, spent and used through powerful Counterfeiter abilities. Counterfeiter cards form their own display and can be purchased during your turn, giving you new tactical tools for reducing costs, manipulating tokens and Privileges, changing how cards are reserved and even interfering with the usual rules surrounding Royal cards.

The Royal court also grows. The expansion's eight new Royal cards are mixed with those from Splendor Duel, so only a selection appears each game. Their abilities introduce fresh opportunities — from gaining resources and cards to creating alternative routes towards victory.

The familiar elegance of Splendor Duel remains at the heart of the experience, but every decision now carries a few more possibilities. Will you build your jewellery empire by the book... or discover that a little deception can be remarkably profitable?

• Splendor Duel is required to play. Begin your rivalry with Splendor Duel, the tactical two-player game of gems, jewellery and royal influence, then add The Counterfeiters when you're ready to bend the rules.
• Four Glassware tokens are mixed with the base game's tokens during setup.
• Counterfeiter cards form a new face-up row above the normal Jewel card display.
• Counterfeiter cards are not Jewel cards and cannot be reserved.
• Purchasing a Counterfeiter card becomes an additional mandatory-action option.
• Each Counterfeiter card can normally be used once during your turn, while several different Counterfeiter cards may be used in the same turn.
• Gold can substitute for Glassware when paying costs, just as it can substitute for Gems and Pearls.
• Glassware normally counts towards the standard 10-token limit unless an ability changes this.
• The eight expansion Royal cards are shuffled together with the four Royal cards from Splendor Duel. Four are revealed for each game, giving the Royal selection additional variety.
• Some new Royal abilities can change how a player meets a victory condition, so familiar strategies may need to adapt.
