About this product
Build the city. Grow the companies. Own the right shares.
A competitive economic strategy game of warehouses, stocks and perfectly timed mergers.
Build trading companies across 17th-century Amsterdam, invest in their shares and outmanoeuvre rival merchants to become the wealthiest player in the city.
Product Description
Welcome to Amsterdam in the early 1600s, where trade is booming, ships are travelling to distant lands and ambitious merchants are competing for economic success.
In Chartered: Building Amsterdam, you establish companies by constructing warehouses across the city, then invest in those companies by buying their stocks. As companies expand, their value rises, increasing the potential value of the shares you hold.
Each turn gives you important choices. Purchase new Building cards, play a Building card to place a warehouse, or sell stocks to free up cash. Building can found a new company, expand an existing one or bring neighbouring companies together in a merger.
Mergers are where things become particularly interesting. When companies connect, the higher-valued company absorbs the lower-valued one, potentially changing the fortunes of every player who invested in them. Stocks in the absorbed company can be sold, while its value is added to the surviving company.
The four modular boards can also be rearranged once you know the game, creating different city layouts and fresh strategic challenges from one game to the next.
When the final available warehouse is built, stocks are converted back into money. Add the value of your investments to your remaining cash, the richest merchant wins.
